During this 45-minute eco-tour, you will see the fish, fauna, marine life, and birds that thrive in this protected reserve, as well as the mysterious caves and sea-battered rocky cliffs of Goat Island. Our direct boarding from the beach allows guests to stay dry throughout the entire journey, making it a perfect activity during most of the year. For our visitors keen to have a closer look at the Reserve’s marine life, we have kayaks and snorkel gear available for hire on the beach.

Yes, there are. The warmer months, typically from December to April, offer clearer waters and more active marine species, making it the best time to see abundant marine life. However, marine life can be observed year-round.
Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
The vessels themselves do not have wheelchair access. However, the tours depart from Whitianga Wharf, which has a ramp suitable for wheelchairs. The crew is happy to assist those with limited mobility on board. Its recommended to inform beforehand.
Do I need to bring anything for the tour, such as sunscreen or water?
Water bottle, sunscreen, and camera.
What should I wear for the boat tour besides jacket?
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Sturdy, closed-toe footwear suitable for walking on varied terrain is recommended.
