Our rafting base in Okere Falls is in an awesome, sunny location and is surrounded by a scenic reserve that backs right onto the shores of the Kaituna River. We are the closest and most accessible company to the river, making Kaituna Cascades the ideal choice for Okere Falls rafting.

All our guides are handpicked, highly skilled professionals. They come from an extreme white water background, either in kayaking or rafting. They have extensive experience in white water rafting in Rotorua.

Once in Okere Falls, you will turn onto Trout pool road (which then becomes Okere Falls road !), and we are the big red and yellow building down this road, a couple of hundred meters on the right-hand side.

We are 20 minutes from Rotorua or 45 minutes from Tauranga/Mt Maunganui

Departure times are 9 AM, 11:45 AM, and 2:30 PM.

Additional Information

You must be 13 years or older for this tour...

All you need to bring is your swimwear and a towel for the rafting, and any clothing for after the tour.

If you have a GoPro, bring a chest harness to attach it. We find the helmet attachments break and fall off at the waterfall....

We take professional photos for purchase after the tour :)

NOTE: This is an exciting grade 5 rafting experience and is NOT suited for older or bigger people, or people who aren't comfortable in the water. We have a weight limit of 120 kgs.

Health & Safety
We are taking all precautionary safety measures to give you a safe (and amazing) trip down our iconic Kaituna River, Wairoa & Rangitaiki Rivers. However, River Rafting is an adventure activity with a degree of risk that increases with the grade of rapids. Rafts can capsize, and people may fall out of the raft in fast-flowing & violent water; people may be injured.
The Kaituna & Wairoa Rivers are class 5 rivers and both have waterfalls and hard rapids.
Grade 5 = Very difficult rapids, High-powerful-irregular waves, difficult to negotiate, the extreme for commercial operations. This said, the Kaituna river is an amazing river & is normally good for most fit and healthy people.”

What happens in case of bad weather on the day of the rafting tour?

Rafting tours operate rain or shine, as getting wet is part of the fun. The only exception is if theres a flood risk; in such cases, tours may be canceled for safety reasons. Its advisable to check the weather forecast and be prepared for wet conditions.

The tour departs daily at 9:00 AM, 11:45 AM, and 2:30 PM.
