Full Description

Your day begins with pick-up from your accommodation and a scenic drive around Lake Wanaka into the Matukituki Valley. After driving through several fords, we arrive at Raspberry Hut. From here, the guided walk begins along the banks of the Matukituki River. 

We enter Mt Aspiring National Park via a swing bridge across the river, then the walk steadily climbs into New Zealand Beech Rainforest with a wide variety of flora & fauna.

Meeting Point

If you are staying in Wanaka, we offer pick-up & drop-off from local accommodation. 

Please provide us with your accommodation when you book your tour & we will arrange a pick-up time.

If you are not staying within Wanaka, or would like to meet us at our meeting point, we will pick up from the Lakefront Carpark opposite the junction of McDougal Street, Ardmore Street & Wanaka Mount Aspiring Road (opposite the rugby fields).

Please note, if you are meeting us at the lakefront car park, be there at 9 am, ready to depart.

If we have arranged a pick-up from your accommodation, please double-check the pick-up time, as this may be before 9 am.

What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots
- Day pack
- Sufficient water for a 3-4 hour walk
- Lightweight layers
- Lightweight waterproof jacket

This is a 10km hike.
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
- You should be able to walk for 2 - 3 hours on a graded track, with a day pack, through steep or slippery sections.

Group Size: Maximum 10 per guide
Accessibility: Walking is not suitable for Wheelchairs or strollers.

Fitness
This is an alpine walk that will require you to have a moderate level of fitness to walk 10km happily whilst carrying a small backpack with water and some spare clothing.
If you are in any doubt please call us on: +64 (0)27 923 1420 as overestimating your abilities and fitness in the outdoors can have serious consequences.

We reserve the right to alter, amend or cancel any trip should weather, or any other circumstance, necessitate this. At all times your safety is paramount and an alternate tour will be arranged by our guides if safe to do so.

Once your tour has departed from your pick-up location, no portion of the package payment is refundable in the event of an individual or group being unable to proceed further on the track, for whatever reason.

Your acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined are required to process your reservation:
- All payments must be made prior to the trip commencing or via your booking agent.
- All transactions are conducted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Due to exchange rate fluctuations, at times there may be some variance in the amounts refunded compared to the amount initially charged.

Throne Brown & Cochrane Ltd (Eco Adventures Wanaka + Stargazing Wanaka) does not accept any liability for these variances or any subsequent credit card/bank charges relating to these transfers to customer's accounts.

All agreements and contracts shall be subject solely to New Zealand law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. In the event of a cancellation or amendment to your booking, the notification period is in NZ time (NZST).
