Enjoy a taster of the scenery Fiordland is so famous for with a short adventure into the remote and untamed Kepler Mountains.

Departing from our Te Anau lakeside base, the journey begins by soaring over Lake Te Anau and high over the Kepler Great Walk trail. Soak up views of the Hidden Lakes before flying above the locals’ playground that is the lower Kepler Mountains.

We land at a mountain tarn, take a breath of crisp alpine air, and enjoy rugged mountain views out over the Main Divide.

Our Doubtful Sound Scenic Flight offers a spectacular birds’ eye view of the rugged mountains, waterfalls, and rainforests of this fiord. Leaving from our lakeside Te Anau base, soar high above the Iris Burn Valley and Lake Manapouri, also known as the ‘Lake of Many Islands’ (it’s easy to see why!) Spot the infamous West Arm Power Station on Lake Manapouri before flying up and over the Wilmot Pass into Doubtful Sound. This long and winding fiord is one of Fiordland’s deepest and is home to a number of stunning waterfalls. The weather is suitable, your helicopter will detour into magical Campbell’s Kingdom, a beautiful hanging valley encompassing a lake and a waterfall. This is the stuff of fairytales. From here, take a peek at Bradshaw Sound before soaring over the Main Divide of the Southern Alps for a second remote landing at scenic Mount Kidd. Lake Manapouri will appear as we head for the stunning North West Lakes for a beautiful scenic landing opportunity. You’ll soon see why it’s no wonder Fiordland was a key region for filming the landscapes of Middle-earth. Once airborne again, we fly over Borland Road leading to Green Lake before the flight path takes us over a geological marvel, Mt Titiroa, which, from a distance, looks capped in snow. We will make a landing here so you can get a close-up view of the magnificent and unique huge white granite formations and small lakes that are visible from the air.Show Less

Our Milford Sound scenic flight departs from the Te Anau lakefront and showcases breathtaking, birds-eye views of some of the highest and most-photographed mountains in Fiordland.

We begin by soaring over the shores of Lake Te Anau to our first landing. It’s a great way to get a feel for our grand Fiordland scenery right from the get-go.

Once airborne again, we fly high above the remote Wick Mountains and the rugged landscapes that surround this range. Look out for Lake Iceberg, which does exactly what its name says grows icebergs!

Soak up the stunning views of Mitre Peak and Milford Sound as they unfold below; we circuit the fiord to follow the route of the Milford Track. Soaring over the McKinnon Pass, one of the tougher parts of the Milford, we land at Lake Quill, a hanging lake that is the source of the famous Sutherland Falls.

Milford Sound itself is 15 km long, running from the Tasman Sea to Deep Water Basin Harbour. It was the location for epic scenic shots in The Hobbit Trilogy; carved by glaciers, it really is deserving of every superlative you can think of.

Departing from our Te Anau lake front helicopter pad, begin by soaring over picturesque Lake Manapouri and above the Kilcoy mountains. A landing is made at Mt Pender, where we shut down the helicopter to enable you to soak up the grandeur. One of Fiordland’s largest and most remote fiords, 40km-long Dusky Sound is dotted with more than 350 small islands. Access to the sound is by sea or air only; very few people get to experience the beauty of this magical place.

Once airborne again, you’ll fly over three more impressive fiords before descending into Crooked Arm in Doubtful Sound. Often called the ‘Sound of Silence’ because of the total serenity that blankets the Sound, Doubtful is long, winding, and home to several stunning waterfalls. While flying up this fiord you’ll detour into a unique hanging valley known as Campbell’s Kingdom, complete with its own lake and waterfall. At this stage, you might want to pinch yourself. This is the New Zealand you came to see.

Departing from our lakeside Te Anau hangar, soar high above Lake Manapouri and deep into the heart of Doubtful Sound, also known as the ‘Sound of Silence’ because of its incredibly remote location.

Our first landing is in Campbell’s Kingdom, a unique hanging valley suspended amidst mountains. This is the stuff of storybooks, the valley even has its own waterfall and lake!

From here, fly above several more fiords before arriving at Milford Sound and touring Fiordland’s most famous destination. A Milford Sound scenic flight is the best way to see all the fiord has to offer, you’ll be amazed by the sheer granite cliffs and inky blue water. Dusky Sound is one of our most remote and longest fiords. Dotted with 350 small islands, it’s only accessible by air or by boat – there is no road or walking trail, making it a very special place to explore by helicopter.

Doubtful is often referred to as ‘the Sound of Silence’ because of its beautiful serenity. You’ll fly over Crooked Arm along with several of the fiord’s most impressive waterfalls. Seeing Campbell’s Kingdom from the air is a real highlight. This hanging valley is the stuff of storybooks and movie scenes!

Milford Sound is iconic and was once referred to as the eighth wonder of the natural world. From the air, it’s easy to see why.
