Snorkeling Trip
We are lucky in the Bay of Islands to have some of the best snorkelling in New Zealand. We have a marine reserve in Deep Water Cove with some beautiful reef sites, abundant fish life, and spectacular scenery. We are also fortunate with this type of reserve to be able to feed the fish. This means that with very little effort, you can have Sandaggers Wrasse and large Snapper coming very close while snorkelling over the reef. Our water temperature ranges from 18c to 23c in the summertime. We provide comfortable 5mm wetsuits so you can stay in all day if you wish. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment.

Full Description
We start the dive day at 7:45 am at our dive shop on Williams Rd. We organize equipment and paperwork, then load the boat on Paihia wharf for an 8:30 am departure. On the way out to the dive site, we cruise through the islands and often see Dolphins, Penguins, Seals, and marine bird life. It takes approximately 30 minutes on Sentinel to get to Deep Water Cove. First up is normally the wreck dive. While they are diving, we set up gear and brief up for the first reef dive. We then cruise to a reef area for a dive and some lunch/snorkeling.

Good weather is required for this experience. If we need to cancel due to poor weather, you'll be offered a different date or a full refund.
There is a minimum number of travellers for this experience. If the minimum isn't met and we need to cancel, we will offer a different date/experience or a full refund.
Cancellations and transfers more than 48 hours from trip departure will be accepted in most cases. Cancellations within 48 hours of trip departure will incur a cancellation fees of $100.00 per person. A substitute dive is welcome at no cost. In the event of non attendance full payment is forfeited.
Children age range
Please note that in terms of booking children the age range is from 5 to 14 years of age. Younger than this is free of charge but at the discretion of Paihia Dive (it depends on the mix of customers and activities happening on if we can take infants/toddlers on board). Children must be accompanied by an adult on board, and when in the water have adult supervision. Age15 plus must be booked as an adult.
