This spectacular walk has a little bit of everything: bush, beach, headlands, and vineyards. We start with a walk through restored and regenerating bush up to the headland for some breathtaking views of islands in the Hauraki Gulf. We continue through lush, established bush tracks and rolling hills, where you’ll enjoy lovely views of valleys, vineyards, and the sea. There’s time for wine tasting and/or lunch at two of Waiheke’s best-loved vineyards: Mudbrick Vineyard or Cable Bay Vineyards, with tasting options to suit all budgets.

Meeting Point

Catch the 9:00 am Fullers ferry from downtown Auckland (the trip to Waiheke takes approximately 35 minutes, ferry ticket not included in the tour price)

Walk starts: 9:45 am, Ferry Wharf in Matiatia

When leaving the ferry, look for your guide who will be standing on your left just before you enter the Ferry Terminal. Your guide will be holding a Terra & Tide sign.

Walk ends: 3:00 pm, Ferry Wharf in Matiatia

Ferry fares to/from Waiheke are not included.
Lunch at the vineyard can be requested additionally.
Please bring: Comfortable shoes, Sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, a raincoat (depending on the forecast), and water, money for additional tastings or vineyard lunch.

The tour includes walking through native bush, a climb to a pā site summit, visits to beaches, and vineyard stops suggesting a moderate level of physical effort, including uneven terrain and some elevation.

Are the walks suitable for children and elder people?

Yes. Children above 8 years are suitable for the tour.

Is there a minimum number of travelers required, and what happens if it isn’t met?

Yes, a minimum number of travelers is required. If the minimum isn’t met and we need to cancel, we will offer a different date, an alternative experience, or a full refund.
 

Is lunch included?

Yes, lunch is provided at our local cafe.
 

What do I need to bring?

Bring a daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a rain jacket. Please wear good walking shoes.
 

How fit do I need to be?

You need to be able to walk for 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
