Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fitness level to participate?

No special fitness level is required; this is a scenic helicopter experience, not a hike or trek.

What should I wear for the scenic flight?

You are recommended to wear warm, layered clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Are there weight restrictions for passengers?

Yes, due to air safety regulations and aircraft balance, Heli Glenorchy requires accurate passenger weights at booking time. If your weight exceeds a certain limit (typically around 116 kg / 255 lb or more), you’ll need to notify them in advance. Discrepancies of 15 kg (33 lb) or more between declared and actual weight may result in needing to reschedule the flight.

Will there be commentary or guides during the flight?

Yes, many of Heli Glenorchy’s scenic flights, especially glacier expeditions, include expert pilot commentary on the region’s geography, history, and natural landmarks.

Can I bring a camera or video equipment on board?

Absolutely, bringing a camera is strongly recommended.

What is the maximum number of passengers on the flight?

Shared flights typically carry up to 9 passengers, depending on the helicopter type and flight model.
Private charters are also available, such as a Squirrel helicopter seating up to 6 passengers, as well as twin-engine or 9-seater BK models upon request.
